  • Owen Lovejoy and the Illinois Anti-slavery Movement »

BCHS Museum Curator David Gugerty will speak on “Bureau County’s Place in Illinois History, Celebrating 200 Years of Statehood.” In tribute to Illinois’ Bicentennial year, Gugerty will chronicle events that took place in Bureau County during the early years spanning 1818 through the 1900’s. Gugerty will reprise interesting information about special exhibits on display this summer at the museum: “Northwest Territory: The Illinois Valley in 1818,” and “Century of Growth: Bureau County in the 1900’s,” with interesting facts regarding Bureau County in the 20th century.

David Gugerty has been Curator of the Bureau County Historical Society since spring of 2016, and he is a member of the Princeton Historic Preservation Commission. In the past Gugerty was an exhibit designer at University Museum SIU Carbondale and a staff member at Princeton Park District.
