Exploring Two Faces of Illinois’ History: A Conversation with Territorial Governor Ninian Edwards and Pottawatomie Chief Gomo.

November 29, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

  • « Tapping the Power of Family Search
  • Bureau County’s Place in Illinois History, Celebrating 200 Years of Statehood »

Our special featured speaker will be Brian “Fox” Ellis – author, historian, storyteller, actor, and naturalist. He will appear through the Illinois Road Scholars Speakers Bureau. His presentation in honor of Illinois’ bicentennial will be “Exploring Two Faces of Illinois’ History: A Conversation with Territorial Governor Ninian Edwards and Pottawatomie Chief Gomo.”

Much of the text for this presentation will be taken directly from the speeches these two men delivered to each other as they squared off to determine the future of this region. Fox will step into the shoes of both Edwards and Gomo, bringing to life a vital and controversial series of developments in the birthing of Illinois. This presentation will explore American history unvarnished and promises to generate lively discussions.
