Civil War – Identify the Uniform & Find the Records

August 26, 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

  • « 165 Years of Fair History
  • Navigating Cemeteries and Cemetery Websites »
So, you found an old photograph that shows someone wearing what looks to be an American Civil War uniform. How do you know which side he was on? What branch of service he was in? Follow the hints in this program presented by Joe Hutchinson to figure out how to find out more about his service.

Joe Hutchinson has been a member of the Peoria Genealogical Society for over 20 years, including several years as Projects Chair. His great-grandfather was Private James Hutchinson of the 77th Illinois Volunteer Infantry, who later became a Sergeant in the 58th Illinois Volunteer Infantry. Joe is now the Department Commander in the Illinois Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War. Joe is also a member of the Central Illinois Civil War Dance Society.
