Before You Visit Us

Princeton Amtrak Station
Princeton Amtrak Station
  • Gather your pedigree chart and family group sheets.
  • Prepare a list of questions you hope to find answers for. For example:
    • I need a complete death date and obituary for John Doe.
    • Do probate records exist for John Doe?
    • Where is John Doe buried, and how do I find that cemetery and grave? (BCGS has maps.)
  • Allow enough time (more than one day) to visit not only our Library, but also our Courthouse, Bureau County Historical Society, and Princeton Public Library. The amount of available material depends on how long your family was in Bureau County.
  • If your ancestors might be buried in Bureau County, plan to check our cemetery records first so that we can help you find cemetery locations and lots more easily.
  • View our FAQ page.
